The Government has decided to update the General Regime of Import and Export Baggage, incorporating laptops and cell phones.
According to General Resolution 4315/2018, published this Friday (28.9.2018), this Regime is understood as "Clothing and toiletries, and other goods that are clearly of a personal nature, including a laptop that does not require an external power source to operate (notebook or tablet type) and a cell phone«.
One computer and one cell phone per person
Therefore, the regulations determine that cell phones, laptops or tablets are part of the used personal items that are exempt from paying tariffs and do not need to be declared.
In this way, each passenger will be able to bring a cell phone as a personal item and will have to choose between a single laptop or a tablet.
More efficient customs control
The measure constitutes the first step in a series of improvements for passengers arriving from abroad by any means of transport. The goal is to return more efficient customs control vocalizing on merchandise of greater value and danger.
The resolution, signed by the Federal Administrator of Public Revenue, Leandro Cuccioli, comes into force from today.
