The measure was made official through the Resolution 830 / 2026 from the Ministry of Economy, this Monday (08.06.2026), and incorporates into the internal legal system the Sixth Additional Protocol to the Agreement on International Land Transport (ATIT), within the framework of ALADI.
The Protocol modifies the Regime of offenses and penalties of international land transport of passengers and cargo between the signatory countries —Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay—, with the aim of simplifying the current scheme and reducing operating costs.
It establishes a new scale of fines:
- Mild: USD 100
- Average: USD 500
- Serious: USD 1.000
- Very serious: USD 2.000
According to the regulation, the update seeks to adapt the sanctioning regime to the reality of the sector, strengthening trade facilitation and operational predictability, in line with regional integration commitments and the promotion of intraregional trade.
The Protocol was adopted within the framework of ALADI and will enter into force 60 days after the General Secretariat informs the States Parties of the completion of the corresponding internal procedures.
