Telepass will be mandatory for trucks entering the Port of Buenos Aires

-

The General Port Administration established the mandatory adherence to the Telepase system for all trucks, and the vehicles that guard them, that must enter the Port of Buenos Aires and its terminals. The measure will be applied starting May 2, 2019, according to the Resolution 37 / 2019 published this Tuesday (19.3.2019) in the Official Gazette.

The initiative is a consequence of the arrangements being made in the City of Buenos Aires in the so-called Paseo del Bajo, which is partially financed by the national Government. In this sense, the text explains that the decision “has the purpose of guaranteeing an efficient development of the transit and transportation systems, and of improving mobility, circulation and accessibility to the City.”

The Paseo del Bajo project is thus intended to ensure a fast road connection between the southern and northern areas of the city, which will also have repercussions on the port area, since all heavy traffic will move along a single corridor. In this way, the General Port Administration, through a series of agreements, collaborated to ensure the normal progress of the area.

Telepase will be the only means of payment available on all access routes to be installed, including those corresponding to the Port of Buenos Aires., reported the company Autopistas Urbanas SA

This system works through a single device called TAG, free to install, which consists of an electronic wafer with a built-in chip attached to the vehicle's windshield, which allows you to pass through toll booths without stopping and without using cash, with consumption having to be paid for on a monthly basis.

The use of this mechanism will allow for the prompt identification of transport entering port jurisdiction, “reducing times and allowing for advance planning of access and maneuvers, regardless of the routes used to reach the Port,” the official text clarifies.
