Cristo Redentor Pass will remain closed

-

The Cristo Redentor international crossing will not be reopened on Thursday due to poor weather conditions in the Chilean sector, announced authorities from the Coordination of the Los Libertadores Crossing, a border complex with the neighboring country, according to spokespeople from the National Gendarmerie.

Added to this is the forecast of snowfall for this Thursday (09.08.2017/XNUMX/XNUMX), so according to the spokesmen "They are not in a position to reopen the international tunnel until there are guarantees of safe transit.".

According to the Gendarmerie report, the Argentine sector is passable, with great caution, up to Villa Las Cuevas, that is, up to the mouth of the tunnel.

Currently, overcast skies are being recorded in the high mountain area, with temperatures of nine degrees below zero, strong gusts and reduced visibility.
