Customs authorities from the countries met on Thursday (28-6-2018) in Brussels to participate in the sessions of the Political Commission and the General Council of the World Customs Organization (WCO).
In this context, the National Director of Customs Chile, Claudio Sepulveda, said bilateral meetings as Vice President of the Americas and Caribbean Region.
Pacific Alliance and Mercosur
According to the official text of the Chilean Government, Sepúlveda held a meeting with the heads of the Customs of the countries of the Pacific alliance, with whom it will sign the first regional Mutual Recognition Agreement on July 22.
The official also spoke with the National Directors of the Customs of the Mercosur on the Bioceanic Corridor initiative.
In particular, the Chilean authority thanked the Director of Brazil for organizing the internship for customs officers from Arica (Chile), who received the innovation award for their “Green Warehouse” project.
The meeting between Sepúlveda and the Director General of Customs of the Argentina, Diego Dávila. Both officials discussed the simplification of customs procedures for the transit of private vehicles and tourists between both borders.
Panama
On the other hand, the head of the Chilean Customs Office spoke with the Director of Customs of Panama, regarding the prompt signing of a customs cooperation agreement, on the occasion of the Chilean presidential visit to that country.

Sepúlveda also spoke with the Director of Facilitation and Control of the WCO, Ana Hinojosa, on various initiatives in this area.
In this regard, the Head of the Department of International Affairs, Fabián Villarroel, highlighted the great work carried out by the Chilean Customs during the two years that he exercised the regional vice presidency, a position that starting next July will be held by Dominican Republic.
Chilean efforts were recognized Thursday by the administrations of the Americas and the Caribbean at the meeting chaired by Sepúlveda, who presented a new version of the Strategic Planning with proposals such as the creation of a regional private sector consultative group and the incorporation of the Spanish language in 5 additional meetings; a new version of the region's website and newsletter.
