The national government presented this Friday (29.6.2018) the project for the North Patagonian Train that will link the port of Ingeniero White (Buenos Aires) with Añelo (Neuquén), passing through several cities in Río Negro, including Cipolletti.
The event took place in the capital of Neuquén and was chaired by the Minister of Transport of the Nation, Guillermo Dietrich, and the governors of Río Negro and Neuquén, Alberto Weretilneck and Omar Gutiérrez, respectively. Businessmen from the oil sector were also present.
According to local press, Gutiérrez stressed that the The Norpatagonia train will help to strengthen Neuquén as the nerve centre of hydrocarbons. He added that it is important to continue promoting economic activity, employment and investment in the province.
The railway line will be key for the oil sector which will link the Neuquén city of Añelo with the port of Bahía Blanca in Buenos Aires.
Investments and Importance
The branch will require an investment of about 550 million. Furthermore, this infrastructure is important due to the transportation potential of necessary supplies for the exploitation of resources located in the Vaca Muerta reserves, as well as those derived from mining exploitation, and the potential demand of regional economies, fruit exploitation and others.
On this historic day, together with @Wererilneck and@Guillodietrich We present the North Patagonian Train Project, which will build, renovate, improve and maintain the corridor's infrastructure. #MakingFuture pic.twitter.com/FRWN8gvtQ1
