The Secretariat of the World Customs Organization (WCO) has developed a new online course on the Single Window Environment. The e-learning modules are based on the recently revised version of the WCO Single Window Compendium, “Creating a single window environment«.
These are structured in such a way that they allow potential interested parties in developing a comprehensive knowledge of the aspects multifaceted aspects of an automated processing environment for the clearance and release of goods, through the application of sophisticated solutions such as advanced cargo information, integrated processing of customs declarations, and supporting electronic documents.
Successful completion of e-learning modules will allow the distance learner to explain the concept of a single-window environment, recognize the advantages of single-window implementation, prepare a business case for single-window implementation, and identify the components of single-window architecture.
In addition, a electronic certificate once the course, which lasts approximately eight hours, is successfully completed.
Module structure
The modules have been developed in two groups, following the structure of the compendium:
The first group It is designed to help policy makers understand the single window environment and its implications for cross-border activities.
the second group It focuses more on the technical aspects of a Single Window system, which will improve the knowledge of Single Window implementers.
Various Themes
Specifically, the e-learning modules will provide guidance and best practices from WCO members on Issues such as single window electronic services; back-end solutions involving inter-institutional cooperation and co-orchestration of regulatory business processes; risk management in a single window environment; data security policies; aspects relating to single window operator business models; performance management for a single window system; implications of public-private partnerships for cross-border regulators and the business community.
