The Government of Uruguay reiterated its position of being inflexible in the application of the Zero Kilo regime, through the statement of the National Customs Directorate (DNA).
In the context of the Covid-10 pandemic, the DNA applied certain control measures in the border areas to Minimize the entry of foreigners and merchandise to the country.
The agency thus reiterated its intention to revoke the special benefit regimes for tourists, such as those for the entry of luggage, effects and tourist vehicles.
"It also reiterates that this measure does not cover the population residing in border areas for whom the border traffic regime remains unchanged," the official text states.
The DNA urges the non-resident population in border areas not to travel to the border points to make purchases, since Failure to comply with the measures being applied will result in confiscation of all merchandise purchased.
