Argentina and Chile eliminated the use of paper for the exchange of vegetables

-

Argentina and Chile marked an international milestone by starting this Monday (04.05.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX) the Issuance of the first phytosanitary certificates for the export of products and by-products of plant origin in electronic form (e-Phyto), Senasa reported in a statement.

This system that eliminates paper was agreed upon by the National Health and Agri-Food Quality services (Senasa) of our country and the Agricultural and Livestock (SAG) trans-Andean.

This is the first international level agreement between two national plant protection organizations (NPPOs), within the framework of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), to use the e-Phyto tool in all its commercial operations of export and import of products and by-products of plant origin.

The development of the “e-Phyto System"It is an initiative of the IPPC that encourages the NPPOs of the contracting countries to implement it, allowing international trade in regulated articles to be maintained in an easy, transparent, secure, digital and paperless manner."

With the implementation of this tool, An exporting NPPO can transfer e-Phyto certificates via a secure system to the “Hub” (central certificate exchange system) which transfers this certificate to the importing country's "mailbox" located in the Hub, from where it can be retrieved by the NPPO of the importing country.

The Hub requires all countries participating in the exchange of electronic certificates to use a standardized messaging system for the transmission and retrieval of e-Phyto certificates. This eliminates the need for multiple bilateral access agreements and allows all countries that wish to participate.
