Namely: continue requesting the issuance of a Certificate of Origin in paper format as until now, or request a Digital Certificate of Origin, with the advantages that this last option entails.
Also He recalled that, as a result of the first phase of the pilot plan, the Digital Certificate of Origin was already possible to use in imports of products originating in Mexico within the framework of ACE 60, since 6/6/22.
As explained, the exchange of CODs between Mexico and Uruguay is carried out through the Foreign Trade Single Windows (VUCEs) of both countries, as in the case of trade between Chile and Uruguay.
Trade facilitation tool
According to the statement, the use of the Digital Certificate of Origin in foreign trade "facilitates and makes more efficient the issuance" of such documents that are presented at the destination Customs to access the preferences negotiated in the Trade Agreements involved. In addition, it points out that this tool "facilitates and improves control" by the Customs Customs importers.
Uruguay uses the Digital Certificate of Origin in its commercial exchange with partners of the MERCOSUR since 2018 and with Chile since 2021.
