Argentine SMEs seek to position organic products in the German market

A delegation of 17 Argentine small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have participated since the 26 until the July 29 next in Biofach, the leading trade fair for organic products in Germany and the world, the Foreign Office announced.

The statement indicated that the national delegation eIt is made up of SMEs that supply organic products such as honey, seeds, grains, legumes, fruit puree, peanut butter, rice, sugar, vegetable oil, prunes, garlic and onion, among others.

Similarly, he specified that these participating companies are based in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, City of Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Mendoza, Tucuman, Entre Rios, Santiago del Estero and La Rioja.

"It is a very important fair for us, one of the most important by far, because it allows us to continue to weave networks of contacts that benefit both my company and my clients.", said Gretel Clausen, Deputy General Manager of LETIS SA. She added: “Having a network of women who put so much effort into being able to export and get motivated is the most important thing, because the rest comes by itself. It is about getting motivated, giving it time and consistency, and everything works out. I am very grateful.”".

Argentina is one of the main producers of organic food worldwide, and Biofach is consolidated as the most important reference fair in the world for the organic sector.

In its last edition, Biofach had the participation of 3.000 exhibitors and 51.500 professional visitors, including distributors, importers and other actors in the organic sector value chain.

According to data published by the National Service of Health and Agri-Food Quality (Senasa), During 2021, the volume of Argentine exports of certified organic products increased by 11% compared to 2020 and reached 143.000 thousand tons exported.

 Regarding the main markets, United States It was ranked as the first importer of Argentine organic products, with 46% of external purchases; European Union It was positioned as the second destination market, with 37%; and the United Kingdom It became the third most important destination, where 4% of exports were sent.

The participation of the local delegation will be coordinated by the Argentine Agency for Investment and International Trade (Aaici), which depends on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
