Requirements for Argentine vehicles circulating in MERCOSUR

The Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP) updated the conditions for the circulation of tourist, private and rental vehicles by a MERCOSUR country other than the one on the car's license plate.

The measure was formalized through the General Resolution 5366/2023, published this Thursday (08.06.2023/3/1.419) in the Official Gazette, which replaced point 35 of Annex I of General Resolution No. 02 referring to the internal legal system, imposed by regulation No. XNUMX/XNUMX.

The official text explained that General Resolution No. 1.419 incorporated into the internal legal system the vehicle circulation regime, imposed by the aforementioned Resolution No. 35/02 (GMC), making it possible "the use of electronic media» to check the requirements for this purpose.

Thus, the AFIP resolved that drivers of vehicles who want to circulate on the roads of the countries belonging to MERCOSUR must present the following: attached documents to the registration or registration of the vehicle:

a) Identity document valid for travel within MERCOSUR.

b) Driving license.

c) Document that qualifies you as a tourist issued by the immigration authority.

d) Authorization to drive the vehicle in the cases required by this regulation.

e) Title or other official document proving ownership of the vehicle.

f) Proof of current insurance.

For their part, those who rent vehicles deThey must have the Authorization for Circulation in MERCOSUR (ACM), granted by the lessee company.

"These documents may be displayed in digital format when an electronic means of verification is available and to the extent agreed bilaterally or multilaterally by the States Parties involved," expands point 3.2 of the official regulations.
