A total of 6.941.828 foreign tourists arrived in Argentina in 2018 by air, sea and land, representing a year-on-year growth of 3,4%, the National Tourism Secretariat (Sectur) reported today based on a survey by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec).
In 2018, 2.760.000 foreign visitors arrived by air, 7,5% more than in 2017. 1.037.000 foreign visitors arrived by sea, 0,4% more than in the previous year, and 3.145.000 foreign visitors arrived by land, representing a year-on-year growth of 1,1%.
Tourists arriving by air in 2018 generated an economic impact of 3.197.000.000 dollars, 28,1% more than in 2017, according to the International Tourism Study (ETI), which does not report data on the spending of visitors who arrived by land or water.
As for the economic impact, inbound spending in 2018 by air alone was 3.197 billion dollars, not considering the cost of international tickets. In Argentine pesos, this represents 92.198 billion, 28,1 percent more in real pesos compared to the previous year.
