The President of Chile begins a state visit to Brazil to strengthen integration and trade.

The President of the Republic of Chile, Gabriel Boric Font, begins a state visit to the Federative Republic of Brazil this week, with the goal of consolidating bilateral relations and strengthening logistical and commercial integration, according to official sources.

According to an official statement from the Chilean Presidency, released this Monday (April 21.04.2025, XNUMX), the delegation will be comprised of ministers, authorities, and representatives from the public and private sectors. The main objectives include strengthening trade ties, attracting investment, and cooperating on regional infrastructure and connectivity.

One of the main topics will be the progress of the Bioceanic Road Corridor, a strategic megaproject of regional physical integration that seeks to connect the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans through a network of 2.400 kilometers of roads and infrastructure works that will unite Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and ChileIt is estimated that its works will be completed in 2026.

Chile, as Active Associated State of MERCOSUR, maintains a stake in the bloc's physical and economic integration initiatives, and its involvement in the Bioceanic Corridor reflects its commitment to a more interconnected and competitive region.

Within the framework of the visit, President Boric will be received this Tuesday by his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, at the Planalto Palace, where they will hold a bilateral meeting and lead various activities in the context of the first commemoration of Friendship Day between Chile and Brazil, established to celebrate the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries, the April 22th 1836.

Brazil is Chile's third-largest trading partner, with trade reaching USD 12.560 billion in 2024, according to data from the General Directorate of International Economic Relations (SUBREI). Chilean exports totaled USD 5.066 billion, while imports from Brazil totaled USD 7.494 billion, with an average annual growth of 2,7% since 2014.
