According to the latest report from the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC), trade between Argentina and Brazil reached December 2025, US$2.109 billion, which represented a year-on-year decrease of 16,9% compared to US$2.538 billion recorded in the same month of 2024. The decrease was explained by the simultaneous contraction of exports and imports.
Main reductions in trade with Brazil
The Argentine exports to Brazil totaled US$1.068 billionExports fell by 14,1% year-on-year, marking the sixth consecutive month of decline. On a month-on-month basis, exports were down 3% compared to November 2025.
LaArgentine imports from the neighboring country totaled US$1.042 billionThis represented a year-on-year decrease of 19,6% and a 15,3% reduction compared to the previous month. It was the second year-on-year decline recorded in 2025.
The bilateral trade balance was in Argentina's favor in December by US$26 million. marking the first positive result after 17 consecutive months of deficit. However, according to the CAC, “"In the cumulative total for 2025, the trade balance with Brazil was negative by US$5.224 billion.".
Main categories that explained the decline
The decline in Argentine exports was mainly due to lower sales of passenger motor vehicles, milk and dairy products, and parts and accessories for vehicles. Meanwhile, the decline in imports was mainly due to the contraction in Parts and accessories of motor vehicles, passenger vehicles, piston engines, road vehicles and iron ores and their concentrates.
