The Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA) has made appointments of senior authorities in the units of the General Directorate of Customs, through the Provision 176-E/2024.
This decision, published this Tuesday (29.10.2024), is based on the power granted to the ARCA to organize and regulate its internal operations, after its recent creation as the successor of the AFIP, in accordance with the Decree 953/2024. Its main responsibility is to manage the tax, fiscal and customs policies of the National State.
In this context, the General Director of Customs, José Andrés Velis, a professional with extensive experience in the modernization customs and a firm focus on optimizing the control, will be accompanied by professionals and career civil servants. The corresponding appointments are detailed below:

Atty. Juan Manuel Francia
The Eng. Marcelo Alejandro Sosa, who until now worked as a customs control operator (guard) in the General Subdirectorate of Metropolitan Customs Operations, has been promoted to the position of Deputy General Director, replacing Rosana Ángela Lodovico, who has been relocated as advisor.
For its part, Maria Virginia Paredes has been promoted to Deputy Director General of Customs Operations of the Interior, assuming this new role after serving as Deputy in the same sub-directorate. It should be noted that attorney Paredes is a tax law specialist, with more than 40 years of experience in the General Directorate of Customs. In this context, attorney María de los Milagros Racana has been removed from her position as head of this General Sub-directorate.
Likewise, Juan Manuel France has been promoted from Director of Customs Inspection and Operations at the Ezeiza Customs Office to Deputy Director General of Customs Control. Francia is a lawyer specializing in customs law, has a Master's Degree in Tax Law and has extensive professional experience and specialization at the AFIP-DGA.
Meanwhile, it is reported that lawyer Javier José María Ferrante has been reassigned to First General Counsel in the General Subdirectorate of Customs Control.
