The São Paulo Customs Brokers Union (SINDASP) issued a warning on Monday (10.03.2025) about the negative impacts that the Federal Revenue Auditors' strike is having on Brazil's foreign trade. According to the union's calculations, losses could exceed R$ 12 billion in just two months of strike.
The mobilization, which began on November 24, 2024, has slowed down both import and export processes and the progress of structuring projects in foreign trade. According to ComexStat data, between December and January 2025 Brazil imported goods worth more than 43 billion dollars. With an average delay of 30 days in the release of goods, the economic impact is significant.
The president of SINDASP, Elson Isayama, highlighted the importance of resolving this situation urgently. "Brazil needs to return to a more constructive, structuring and forward-looking path, maintaining, at least, the predictability of import and export operations in the country," he stressed.
In a global context of trade tensions and geopolitical conflicts, the association emphasizes that Brazilian foreign trade cannot continue to be affected by internal problems. Therefore, it urges the authorities to take measures to guarantee the proper functioning of the logistics and customs chain.
The Customs Brokers Union of São Paulo has sent formal communications to the President of the Federal Senate and the Minister of Finance of Brazil.
