Creation of the Cuyo Regional Customs Directorate to optimize trade management in the Cristo Redentor System

In 2024, Mendoza Customs increased its final exports for consumption by 14% compared to the previous year. At the same time, the Cristo Redentor Border Crossing System recorded a 50% increase in the movement of people and a 14% increase in the transit of cargo trucks.

To improve the management of foreign trade in this key area, the National Government created the Cuyo Regional Customs Directorate, through Provision 38/2025This border crossing, one of the most important for the country's economy, connects Mendoza with Chile.

according to standard of the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA), published today (10.03.2025) in the Official Gazette, the new address It will include the Customs of Mendoza, San Juan, San Luis, Domiciliary (Mendoza Customs: Peñaflor) and San Rafael. It will report to the General Subdirectorate of Interior Customs Operations, which is part of the General Directorate of Customs.

Likewise, the following has been appointed: Mauro Sebastian Falvella, lawyer and current General Counsel of 1st, as Interim Director of the new Cuyo Regional Customs Directorate, according to the Provision No. 39/2025, also published today. 

This measure is part of the agency's organizational evaluation process, which aims to achieve "more transparent, agile, efficient and quality public management in addressing the common good."

During his recent visit to the province of Mendoza, the head of ARCA, Juan Pazo, highlighted, according to a statement from the Government of Mendoza, the great potential of the region for the development of large investments, particularly through the Regime of Incentives for Large Investments (RIGI). Pazo mentioned that several of these projects will be carried out in Mendoza and San Juan, which will boost local economic growth. In this same sense, the head of Customs, José Andrés Véliz, underlined the commitment of the new direction with the development of the region, ensuring a more agile and dynamic management of foreign trade.
