Argentina: Mandarin oranges return to Brazil

-

The Misiones Agroindustrial Citrus Cooperative Limited (CCAM) completed its first export of mandarins and oranges to the neighboring country, after overcoming the barriers that prevented it.

The first container of 24 tons left on Thursday (21.6.2018) bound for the city of Barracao (State of Paraná), near Bernardo de Irigoyen. The Misiones fruit will then be taken to large consumption centers such as Curitiba, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, according to Misiones Line.

The last export of oranges and mandarins from Misiones farms took place in 2008, managing to sell around 400 tons at that time.

After this operation, bureaucratic problems reappeared in both countries, making it impossible to continue with sales.

"The best expectations"

Carlos Satur, president of the recently created citrus cooperative, did not hide his satisfaction with this operation, which he predicted "will be only the beginning of a new era for the marketing of our production to a market so close and certainly convenient, considering the distance"

"We," he added, "had to work constantly to open the store, not only to overcome bureaucracy, but also to convince Brazilian customers of the good product our partners make and of the possibility of maintaining the rule, which is none other than quality, quantity and continuity."

Curiously, the Brazilian market is supplied with this type of fruit from Spain and Uruguay, so, given the proximity to Misiones, maintaining these links represents good business for both parties.

Soon thousands of Brazilians will be tasting the Nadorcot mandarins and navel oranges that citrus growers in Misiones produce with such care.

While working on the new destination, the CCAM continues to export fresh fruit to eastern countries, Russia and Canada.
