The Government of Uruguay received this Tuesday (13.08.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) the third of the latest generation scanners that will be used to strengthen security and anti-drug controls.
The delivery took place at the facilities of the Port of Montevideo in the presence of the National Director of Customs, Jaime Borgiani, and the Vice President of the National Port Administration, Daniel Loureiro, according to a statement from the Customs Office.
The three scanners are state-of-the-art devices that will operate 24 hours a day. The operation and maintenance of the image interpretation software will be carried out by customs officials.
To this end, Jaime Bogiani He stated that “together with the company S2 Global INC, 60 customs officials are being trained on the operation of the scanners so that they can operate them effectively.”
According to reports, the equipment will begin operating in the coming weeks.
It is recalled that the Government of Uruguay awarded the company S2 Global INC the tender for the provision of a Non-Intrusive X-ray Inspection service for cargo and vehicles, for customs control purposes.
S2 Global will provide non-intrusive inspection services using three Rapiscan Eagle T60 mobile high-energy X-ray scanners. Two of the systems will be permanently located at the Port of Montevideo and the third will provide services at different points throughout the territory, the same official source specified.
