The Ministry of Economy decided to simplify administrative procedures and streamline commercial operations (internal and external) of textiles and footwear, through Resolutions 156/2024 y 159/2024.
According to the regulations, published today (16.07,2024) in the Official Gazette, the Government established that The control of textile and footwear labelling is carried out ex post and prior to marketing by the Undersecretariat of Consumer Protection and Commercial Loyalty, ensuring that such goods meet the minimum security requirements.
According to the resolutions, the objective is to “reduce the cost of bureaucracy and facilitate import processes,” while ensuring that labeling is mandatory. All products sold in Argentina must carry a label with the company’s information and characteristics. In the specific case of footwear and textiles, these labels also contain product information that is relevant to the consumer but does not cover safety concepts.
Companies must therefore arrange for the products to be labelled prior to being marketed. Control of this obligation will be carried out ex post, ensuring that products have the mandatory label prior to being marketed.
According to the Ministry of Economy, these are provisions aimed at simplifying procedures that hinder the normal functioning of markets and internal and external trade.
For this purpose, new measures on labeling of textile products and footwear will come into effect. Starting July 17, 2024 in Argentina.
