Lines of work were approved for the implementation of the Regional Master Plan for Mobility and Logistics 2035 in Central America

The six ministers who are members of the Sectoral Council of Ministers of Transport of Central America (COMITRAN) approved different lines of work within the framework of the implementation of the Regional Mobility and Logistics Master Plan 2035, which is intended to be developed during the second half of 2024. 

The session of the governing body on planning, design, construction and evaluation of connectivity infrastructure in the Central American region was held on Thursday (27.06.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) in Guatemala, SIECA said in a statement.

Thursday's deliberations were led by the Undersecretary of Transportation of Honduras, Bayardo Pagoada Figueroa, who, as Pro Tempore President of COMITRAN, highlighted the importance of the push being given to the implementation of the Regional Master Plan for Mobility and Logistics 2035, as well as the efforts made by SIECA in the search for strategic partners to support the projects and initiatives of said Plan, in compliance with the presidential mandate issued by the LVII Meeting of Heads of State and Government of the Central American Integration System (SICA).

Among other key issues, the presentation of the lines of work of the "New European Union Cooperation Cycle, ECOTRADE Project"The objective of this agreement is to contribute to consolidating the process of regional economic integration and to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union (EU).

In addition, it was carried out the transfer of the Pro Tempore Presidency of COMITRAN from Honduras to Nicaragua, who has held it since July 1 to December 31 of this year.

The Minister of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing of Guatemala (Félix Alvarado Browning), the Minister of Public Works of Panama (Rafael Sabonge Vilar), the Vice Minister of Transport of Guatemala (Fernando Suriano Buezo), the Vice Minister of Public Works of El Salvador (Emilio Ventura Díaz), the Vice Minister of Infrastructure of Costa Rica (Efraím Zeledón Leiva) and the Vice Minister of Transport of Nicaragua (Félix Granados Echegoyén) also attended the LIII Ordinary Meeting of COMITRAN.
