Extension of tax benefits for essential imports until December 2025

-

The Customs Regulation and Control Agency (ARCA) announced, through the General Resolution 5623/2024, the extension for one year of the tax benefits applicable to the Importation of essential goods. The measure extends until 3December 1th 2025 exemption from the Value Added Tax (VAT) and Income Tax collection regimes.

According to the regulations, published this Monday (30.12.2024), the exempted operations include:

  • Tariff items of the Common Nomenclature of Mercosur (NCM) included in the annex of General Resolution 2281/2007, related to the income tax collection regime.
  • Tariff items of the NCM included in the annex of General Resolution 2937/2010, linked to the VAT collection regime.
  • Importation of goods detailed in the annex of General Resolution 5501/2024, provided that the operations are carried out by companies with a valid “MiPyME Certificate” at the time of importation.

ARCA stressed that this new measure, effective immediately, gives continuity to the economic policy implemented by the National Administration. It also recalled that General Resolution 5490, published on March 18, 2024, and its amendment had already exempted these operations for an initial period of 120 days. According to this regulation, the extension of benefits aims to mitigate the economic impact of high inflation, especially in the most vulnerable sectors, and guarantee access to essential products such as food, drinks and basic basket items.
