Peru will participate in the implementation of international tax standards in preferential tax regimes

The Government of Peru began multi-sector meetings in order to advance the process of joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). In this framework, the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Ana Cecilia Gervasi, participated in the High Level meeting, organized by the mission of the Forum on Harmful Tax Practices (FHTP), in which various recommendations applicable to preferential regimes were shared, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism reported in a statement released on Thursday (14.07.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX).

Gervasi highlighted the work of the FHTP, which focuses on reaching consensus and applying methodologies and criteria to define the substantial activities that take place in preferential tax regimesHe also said he agreed with promoting the implementation of international standards to provide a transparent framework for the tax policy of member countries and to monitor the correct application of the preferential regimes that benefit them.

"The Mincetur team will evaluate the proposals provided by the FHTP experts and will coordinate the following steps intersectorally within the framework of the accession process," said the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade.

In this regard, he said that Mincetur has the authority over the Special Economic Zones (ZEE), where companies that establish themselves there enjoy different tariff and tax treatment. “Its integration with the OECD Roadmap is essential to have Zones with globally accepted standardss,” he said.
