The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy of the Nation reported on Monday (18.05.2026) that Argentine honey exports registered in the first quarter of 2026 the highest level of the last 20 years, both in value and volume, according to data from INDEC.
The beekeeping complex showed outstanding performance with a year-on-year increase of 93,3% in export value and 83,9% in volumeconsolidating itself as one of the agro-industrial sectors of greater dynamism in recent foreign trade. During this period, exports rose from $38,3 million in 2025 to $74 million in 2026, while shipments increased from 16.249,6 to 29.887,1 tons. The average price, meanwhile, registered a 5,1% increase.
On the commercial front, within the framework of Under the Interim Trade Agreement between Mercosur and the European Union, Argentina issued certificates for 2.423 tons corresponding to the honey quotathus fulfilling the assigned quarterly quota. Furthermore, during 2025 the country managed to place more than 27.000 tons in the European market, one of the most demanding and segmented globally, where Argentine honey maintains a high reputation for its quality standards.
El main destination of the sector's exports continues to be USA, which accounts for 66% of the exported value, followed by the European Union with around 30%, which confirms the strong insertion of the product in high-value markets.
To boost the complex, in parallel with export growth, the Government formalized through Resolution 61/2026 the update of the “Quality Protocol for Argentine fractionated honey”. The measure aims precisely to strengthen the differentiation of the national product and improve its competitiveness in international markets, establishing benchmark standards for producers seeking to add value and improve their external positioning.
Argentina is the world's second-largest exporter of honey, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. This position is based on its natural comparative advantages, such as a rich array of native flowers and a diverse climate that allows for the production of high-quality honey, recognized internationally.
