Trade in March posted a surplus of 1.183 billion dollars, reversing the negative result of 554 million dollars from the same month last year, the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC) reported on Wednesday (24.4.2019).
Last month, exports reached $5.136 billion, down 5 percent, while imports totaled $3.953 billion, down 33,7 percent.
In this way, in the first quarter of the year, exports reached 14.186 billion dollars and imports, 12.171 billion dollars.
In March, Argentina's main trading partners were Brazil, China and the United States, which together accounted for 29,9 percent of Argentina's exports and 49,8 percent of its imports.
Exports to Brazil reached $908 million and imports from that country, $830 million.
Exports to China totaled $265 million and imports $666 million, while exports to the United States totaled $365 million and imports from that country reached $472 million.
Vietnam (US$302 million), Chile (US$214 million), Indonesia (US$145 million) and the Netherlands (US$143 million) –including the port of Rotterdam, transit to other countries– also stood out as exporters.
In terms of imports, Paraguay (251 million dollars), Germany (225 million dollars), Thailand (102 million dollars) and Spain (96 million dollars), among other countries, also stood out.
