Tourism Minister Liliam Kechichian recalled that the 1.5.2018% VAT refund benefit has been in effect since Tuesday (9).

The Secretary of State said that the VAT refund on tourist purchases by non-residents applied by the Ministry of Economy and Finance was a “positive and innovative initiative, because it had not been done in any other Latin American country.”

"This allowed us to compete in a market that was difficult for us, such as Argentina," he said.

He added that the Ministries of Economy and Tourism have worked together to achieve a balance and that the proposal is thus maintained.
