Importing a vehicle: Foreigners will be able to issue a blue card to a co-owner

-

The National Government authorizes foreigners who obtain permanent residence in Argentina and Argentines who return to reside in the country to issue a blue card in favor of the co-owner of the car.

This is established by the General Resolution 4420 of the Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) published this Tuesday (12.2.2019) in the Official Gazette.

The measure is intended to "document the authorization to drive a duly identified third party," the statement says.

To this end, the regulations modify General Resolution 3109 of 2011 as follows:

«Article 11: a) On the vehicle identification certificate, following the surname and first name of the owner, the legend: “Only Authorized Person to Drive”. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the “Identification Card for Authorized Person to Drive” (blue card) may be issued to the person who proves co-ownership of the vehicle.”

The measure comes into effect immediately.
