Global demand for airfare rose 7,2 percent in October, rebounding from a September disruption caused by hurricanes, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said on Monday (4.12.2017).
"As expected, the recent severe weather in the Americas region had only a temporary impact on the healthy demand for travel we have had this year," said IATA President and CEO Alexandre de Juniac.
He said that the Airline capacity grew by 6,2% and the load factor -which measures how effectively an airline fills its seats- increased by 0,8 percentage points to 80,8%.
IATA said it expected passenger traffic demand to continue its upward trend in 2018. It will present its economic projections for the industry in Geneva on Tuesday.
