The Government signed an agreement on Thursday (28.2.2019) with the Governor of Salta, Juan Manuel Urtubey, to implement a simplified import regime on the border of Aguas Blancas and Orán that will benefit the population of the area and, at the same time, improve the control tasks of the State.
Following the agreement, the regulation of the labor system in the border area will be modified, by allowing those who sell merchandise on a small scale to establish themselves as micro-importers, with a legal regime recognized by the National State.
The change will also strengthen the fight against mafias. who take advantage of the illicit activity of border smuggling.
The agreement was signed by the Governor of Salta, Juan Manuel Urtubey; the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich; the Minister of Production, Dante Sica; the Federal Administrator of Public Revenue, Leandro Cuccioli; the General Director of Customs, Diego Dávila; and the National Director of Immigration, Horacio García.
The Ministry of National Security is committed to directing the migratory flow and merchandise to the Puerto Chalanas Authorized Passage, and to prevent crossing through unauthorized passages.
AFIP, through the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), will implement an optional simplified import regime for the border zone from Aguas Blancas and Oran.
This system will allow 24 monthly transactions –compared to the 12 previously permitted- that cannot be accumulated for up to US$500, with a maximum of one daily transaction, paying the corresponding import duties, for the import of textile products and footwear without use or trademark fraud.
Customs and border crossings where the regime will be applied to imports, contemplated in the 4430 resolution, will be selected jointly by the Ministries of Security, Production and Labor, and the AFIP.
