The Government assigned the quota of tariff benefits to import hybrid and electric cars in Argentina that can be entered between November 6, 2020 and February 5, 2021, through the Provision 2/2021.
The regulations of the Ministry of Productive Development, published this Monday (11.01.2021) in the Official Gazette, provided: "Distribute the quota of five hundred (500) hybrid, electric and fuel cell (hydrogen) motor vehicles that may be imported with the tariff reduction provided for in Decree No. 331 dated May 11, 2017, reestablished by Decree No. 846 dated November 4, 2020, for a period of SIX (6) months, corresponding to the first quarter of the latter, that is, the period between November 6, 2020 and February 5, 2021.”
This benefit corresponds to the measure discussed in November of 2020, which established a quota of only 1.000 units to be distributed among the brands during the first half of 2021. That amount was divided into two quarterly batches of 500 vehiclesThe first of these lots was published today, with allocations by brands and models. It can be seen that Toyota Argentina was the company that benefited the most from the allocation of this quota, receiving 223 of the 500 units assigned. It is followed by Ford Argentina (100 units) and Volkswagen Argentina (69 units for its representative Audi).
The models and the quantities that will be able to be imported during the next few months with tariff benefits are detailed below:
- toyota argentina: Toyota Rav4 Hybrid (106 units), Toyota C-HR (57), Lexus UX250h (82), Lexus NX300h (25), Lexus RX450h (9) and Lexus GS 450H (1). Toyota also sells the Corolla Hybrid in Argentina, but it does not need a quota because it already arrives with zero import tariff from Brazil.
- Ford Argentina: Kuga Hybrid (100 units).
- Mercedes-Benz Argentina: GLC 300e 4Matic (33 units).
- Renault Argentina: Kangoo ZE (12 units), Zoe (6).
- Volkswagen Argentina: Audi A6 Sedan MildHybrid (10 units), Audi A6 Allroad MildHybrid (9), Audi A7 Sportback MildHybrid (1), Audi Q7 MildHybrid (22), Audi Q8 MildHybrid (15), Audi E-Tron (12).
