Costa Rican authorities reported on Monday (25.04.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) on the operation of the country's customs, which has allowed the continuity of services and support for the flow of trade, after attacks on several computer systems such as that of the customs administration in charge of the Ministry of Finance.

"Since the export contingency was established, not a single container has been left unshipped due to lack of authorization from Customs," he said. Director General of Customs, Gerardo Bolanos Alvarado, in the statement. And he assured that this week the requirements of the importing and exporting sectors will continue to be met in order to maintain the flow of goods to the national and international markets.

The Ministry of Finance recalled that last weekend (April 24 and 25), Some customs offices have extended their opening hours attention to ensure the flow of trade, the procedures for the entry, exit, transit and nationalization of goods, as well as the authorization of tax warehouses to receive and dispatch imports. 

“The contingency plans implemented by the National Customs Service to mitigate the effects of the temporary suspension of the TICA computer system allowed the Peñas Blancas customs serve 1.101 transport units, 511 with exports and 590 with imports," the official text detailed.

He also pointed out that "the Juan Santamaria Airport Customs authorized the issuance of 370 Single Customs Declarations (DUAS) for imports, for a total of 608 delivered until 4:00 pm last Friday."

“Meanwhile, the Limon customs dispatched all scheduled exports and attended to nine ships with merchandise," the agency said at the end of the statement.

It is worth mentioning that the system called Information Technology for Customs Control (TICA) of the National Customs Service of Costa Rica, enables the electronic transmission of the documents required for the different customs procedures and allows the payment of taxes by electronic means and the interconnection of customs, customs posts and other government agencies involved in customs management.
