The Ministerial Meeting of the Deep Integration Process between Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador concludes with progress

Ministers of Economy of  Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador met on Thursday (26.96.2024) to advance the process of the Customs Union between the three countries; a meeting that demonstrated concrete results, according to the official information released.

The ordinary meeting, in the Honduran city of Tegucigalpa, was attended by these authorities and the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA), which is the technical support of the Deep Integration Process.

The meeting outlined a dynamic that allowed for rapid progress. The SIECA report indicates that the authorities resolved the following issues:

  • approval of administrative acts on updating the printing format of the  FYDUCA (Central American Single Invoice and Declaration)
  • list of general exceptions to free movement and list of exceptions regarding Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures,
  • Project Guidelines ECOTRADE CA3.

"These actions allow for progress in El Salvador's incorporation into the Integration Process" between Guatemala and Honduras, said the same source.

And in fact - as indicated - those three countries sent their authorities to the meeting.

The one in El Salvador was headed by the Minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem Brevé.

The Guatemalan representation, for its part, was led by the Minister of Economy Gabriela García Quinn.

Fredis Alonso Cerrato Valladares, Secretary of Economic Development of Honduras also participated. 

Meanwhile, the Ministerial Meeting was attended by Francisco Lima Mena, Secretary General of SIECA.
