Florencia Misrahi spoke at the IFA Rio 2024 Latin American Regional Meeting

Federal Administrator Florencia Misrahi participated in the XIV Latin American Regional Meeting of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) held between the June 25-27 in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, constituting the largest tax law congress in Latin America.

At the opening of the congress the head of the AFIP He stressed that: “We have reconfigured ourselves to take advantage of some early victories achieved in the field of pattern and community analysis such as apocryphal billing and possession of hidden assets, in the integration of information from automatic exchanges of the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and in the expectation of being able to integrate in the short term the information coming from Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act or «“FATCA”, linked to an exceptional process of regularization of assets and debts.

He also referred to the strengthening of international tax teams, analytical capabilities, sophistication in explorations, identification of the reasons on which taxpayers' decisions are based and their compliance, and fundamentally the holistic nature of the treatment, based on tax, customs and social security realities.

On the other hand, Florencia Misrahi expressed that the expectations are in this externalization campaign and in return taxpayers' confidence in tax administration, through a simple, secure externalization process with all the necessary support, calling on those who advise Argentine taxpayers, whether residents or not, to support this process.

The head of the organization said she hopes that a new law can be discussed in Argentina soon. tax reform, while regarding the next externalization process he stressed that the jurisdictional scenario will be our country, but the operational scope is the world, where the assets to be externalized are located.

The meeting was attended by, among others, IFA authorities: its president, Guglielmo Maisto, IFA LATAM authorities, Marcos Catao and Alvaro Villegas, the executive secretary of the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), Marcio Verdi, and representatives of tax administrations from Latin America and Spain.
