The Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) and the National Customs Service of Chile implemented this Tuesday (09.05.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) the joint Digital Affidavit at seven new entry points to the country, a requirement that all travelers must meet.
According to the SAG, the following will be added to the 29 border controls that already have the SAG-Customs Digital Joint Declaration: land and air border crossings:
- Chacalluta International Airport, Arica and Parinacota region (north).
- Chungará Complex, Arica and Parinacota region (north).
- Los Libertadores complex, Valparaiso region (center)
- Hachado Pine, La Araucanía region (south)
- Mamuil Malal, Araucanía region (south)
- Huemules, Aysen region of General Carlos Ibanez del Campo (south).
- Carlos Ibáñez del Campo International Airport, Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica region (south).
It is recalled that the Joint Affidavit is the document required by SAG and Customs at border controls in order to declare the products carried by passengers entering our country and which are regulated by both Services. On the part of the SAG, it is the responsibility of the material of animal or plant origin that could contain pests and diseases not present in Chile.
In the case of Customs, you must declare goods and currencies subject to tax, money if you carry more than US$10.000 or its equivalent in other currencies, and anything that exceeds the products contemplated in the traveler's allowance, such as, for example, more than 2,5 liters of alcoholic beverages, more than 2 cartons of cigarettes, more than 1 personal computer, among others,
It should be noted that the Digital Affidavit It is already in operation en 8 ground controls (Pehuenche, Hua Hum, Cardinal Samoré, Jeinimeni, Southern Integration, San Sebastian, Don Guillermo River and Dorotea), in 3 international airports (Arturo Merino Benitez, Diego Aracena and Andres Sabella) and in 18 ports with reception of passenger ships (Ports of Arica, Iquique, Antofagasta, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, San Antonio, Policarpo Toro, San Juan Bautista, Talcahuano, Corral, Puerto Montt, Castro, Ancud, Chacabuco, Punta Arenas, Nuevo Puerto Bahía Catalina, Natales, Williams), having representation in 15 regions of the country, reaching 29% coverage nationwide.
Between January and March 2023, the SAG has inspected more than 3 million passengers, intercepting 64 tons of risky products of animal and plant origin throughout the country.
Call to travelers
“Therefore, the Service is calling on travelers not to bring in products that may contain pests and diseases not present in the country and that could seriously damage the health of our plants and animals,” SAG stressed.
