Motorsports: Justice and Afip operation for multimillion-dollar false billing

-

Several raids are taking place this Friday (23.11.2018), by order of the Federal Judge of Quilmes, Luis Armella. Among them, the Argentine Automobile Club of La Plata, whose headquarters operate within the Roberto Mouras Racetrack in the City of La Plata, province of Buenos Aires.

Cause 2016

The proceedings are filed within the framework of a case initiated by the AFIP at the end of 2016. The investigation revealed the existence of an illicit association dedicated to providing false electronic billing, with a loss to the State that would exceed 4000 billion pesos.

The association provided false invoices to more than 3500 taxpayers from the public and private sectors across the country.

These new raids show the extension of the criminal organization's activities to the national motor racing sector. Previously, its use by major trade unions and top-flight football clubs, among others, had been verified.

Guilds involved

Several unions are involved, among them, the Union of Service Station Workers, UTHGRA, Hierarchical Personnel of Oil and Gas of Patagonia, Federation of Municipal Unions of Buenos Aires, Truck Drivers and Motor Transport Workers, Leather Industry, Gambling and Meat Industry, among others.

The members of the illicit association have already been prosecuted by Judge Armella. Furthermore, some have preventive detention confirmed in the second instance.

Since its inception, the case has seen more than 200 raids carried out across the country, not only to members of the organization but also to users of the services provided by this criminal association.

Joint operation

The procedures have been carried out in joint action by AFIP and Prefecture Argentine Navy.
