Argentina will be a friendly mediator to bring the parties together and achieve consensus for the future, according to Ambassador Pedro Villagra Delgado at a seminar organized by the Argentine Council on International Relations, within the framework of the G-20 summit that will take place between November 30 and December 1 in Buenos Aires.
Villagra, who represents Argentina in the G20, highlighted that «Argentina will be in favour of rules-based trade opening, and in favour of greater trade flow (globally)«.
The diplomat also pointed out that “climate change, the trade issue, the global steel forum, migrants and refugees and the way to tackle the fight against corruption” are the most controversial issues of the meeting. However, he said that “We count on the best will of the leaders to reach consensus and show an active G20.”
Ambassador Villagra recalled that the three priorities of the Argentine presidency during 2018 have been the future of work, infrastructure for development and a sustainable food future.
“The opportunity for interaction during these 48 hours that the G20 lasts is something that we never have, not Argentina, but all the countries that participate. (…) It is a forum that must be kept open to dialogue and consensus”, he finished.
Together, G20 members account for around 85 percent of global GDP, two-thirds of the world's population and 75 percent of international trade.
