Argentina: Barcodes for products sold in airport duty-free shops

The Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) has ordered that merchandise sold in free shops at Argentina's international airports must be identified with bar codes engraved at the source on the packaging.

In such a way, the General Resolution 4296, published this Monday (27.8.2018) modifies the Free Stores Regime, a rule that establishes the requirements and the respective operation.

This resolution responds to a request from the company Interbaires SA, exclusive concessionaire for the operation of free shop services in the country's international airports, for the purposes of Identify the product through technological resources that generate efficiency, certainty and transparency in the acts of the customs service.

Advantages

The aforementioned stamp grants, among other advantages, the reduction of costs, time savings, tracking of the physical movement of the product and greater security in the management of information, facilitating its traceability.
