Corn exports totaled 24.943.933 tons between January and August of this year, thus achieving the highest historical volume of external sales of the cereal, reported this Tuesday (08.10.2019) the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation.
According to the survey carried out by the Undersecretariat of Agricultural Markets, based on data from INDEC, Corn sales already exceed the record for the whole of 2016, when 24.495.803 tons were exported.
In this regard, the head of the national agricultural portfolio, Luis Miguel Etchevehere, highlighted that "The National Government's decision to encourage production and strengthen exports is now bearing fruit: in just eight months, more corn has already been sold than in previous years..
Undersecretary of Agricultural Markets, Jesús Silveyra, added that the record corn production also represents better soil rotation and an enrichment of our natural resources.
It is worth remembering that the 2018/19 corn harvest ended with 57 million tons, also achieving a record production, which thus consolidates the dynamic of production growth that began with the change in government management, when the cereal harvest climbed from 39.800.000 tons in 2015/16, to 49.500.000 in 2016/17.
