Record number of trucks crossing the Friendship Bridge

-

The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service reported this Monday (09.11.2020) that in the month of October a historical record was registered in the number of cargo trucks that crossed the Friendship Bridge with 25.727 vehicles in totalOf this number, 13.356 trucks entered Brazil through Customs in Foz de Iguazú and 12.371 left.

This movement represents the best result in the history of cargo movements between the two countries, over the Friendship Bridge, surpassing the month of September 2016, which was until then the month that registered the highest number with 25.625 cargo trucks, according to the insights of the Federal Revenue of Brazil.

The dry port of Foz de Iguazú, in the state of Paraná, considered the largest dry port in Latin America, also had a historic movement. In October 2020, more than 18 thousand trucks were released and from January to October, nearly 135 thousand loads were already dispatched, the report says. This exceeds by 3.916 transports what it was in the same period, but in 2019.

“The record was obtained despite all the difficulties and logistical restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, including the rigorous documentary and health inspection that began to be carried out at the entry of vehicles from Paraguay.”says the report.

“To meet the increase in demand and maintain its commitment to the country’s development, the Federal Revenue Service has taken several measures, such as increasing the operating windows for exports and imports and adding more personnel in the cargo dispatch and reception team at the Friendship Bridge Customs Office, distributing officials previously assigned to baggage control to cargo control,” concludes the report from the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service.
