Benefits established by AFIP for taxpayers who comply with the 2020 moratorium are made official

-

The Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) formalized the implementation of benefits for compliant taxpayers in the 2020 Moratorium, through the General Resolution 4855/2020 published this Tuesday (10.11.2020) in the Official Gazette.

These benefits include exemptions for self-employed individuals, a special deduction on income tax for the self-employed, and an accelerated amortization mechanism for investments for micro and small businesses, among other issues.

"The extension of the moratorium is part of the various instruments designed to offer relief to families, businesses, professionals, SMEs, large companies, self-employed individuals and non-profit entities," the AFIP reported.

The plan to regularize tax, customs and social security debts implemented - which is valid until November 30 - seeks to cushion the impact of the crisis.

"The extension of the moratorium is a fundamental tool to begin the post-pandemic recovery process," said the head of AFIP, Mercedes Marcó del Pont.

The law that expanded the scope of the moratorium included a set of benefits for those taxpayers who, as of August 26, have not registered any non-compliance in the filing of tax returns or in the payment of tax obligations in the last three fiscal periods.

In the case of self-employed workers, the exemption from the tax component of the monthly payment will be made starting with the January 2021 fiscal period and will be made in monthly and consecutive installments with a cap of $17.500.

The benefit varies according to each category. Thus, in categories A and B of small taxpayers, they are exempt from tax in the fiscal periods from January to June 2021; for categories C and D, 5 installments are exempt, from January to May 2021; in cases E and F, it covers 4 installments, from January to April 2021 and for categories G and H, 3 installments are exempt, from January to March 2021. Finally, for categories I, J and K, 2 installments are exempt, January and February 2021.

The Income Tax benefit applies to the 2020 tax return for individuals and undivided estates.

"For a fiscal period, they may deduct an additional amount equivalent to 50% of the non-taxable minimum from their net earnings. Those who hold public office, employees and those who are retired are exempt," the entity added.

Meanwhile, micro and small businesses can make accelerated amortizations for investments in movable property and infrastructure works carried out between August 26, 2020 and December 31, 2021.

Enrollment in benefits is done through the AFIP website.

The mechanism to request them will be enabled until November 30, inclusive., as it was recalled
