Argentina enacted the MERCOSUR-EU Interim Agreement

The Argentine Republic completed the internal constitutional procedure for the approval of the Interim Trade Agreement between MERCOSUR and the European Union (EU) following the enactment of the Law 27.800 and its promulgation through the Decree 111 / 2026, both dated February 26, 2026. The regulation was published in the Official Gazette on Thursday afternoon, at the close of February.

The legislative process took place during the extraordinary session, as follows had arranged it in a timely manner. Thus, Congress gave effect to the project corresponding to agreement signed on January 17, 2026 in Asunción, comprised of 23 chapters and their respective annexes and appendices.

With the presidential promulgation, the procedure established by the Argentine National Constitution for the approval of this international instrument was formally concluded.

Meanwhile, the ratification process for the agreement continues to advance in the other MERCOSUR member states. This stage is crucial, as it consolidates the legal commitment undertaken by each country and provides institutional predictability to the bi-regional understanding.
