The National Customs Authority of Panama reached an agreement this Monday (07.10.2019) with the sister Republic of Costa Rica, according to the official statement. The measure will allow the elimination of the certification requirements or demands that Panamanian transporters must present to the Costa Rican customs authorities, related to the contracting with exporting companies for the loading of merchandise, this occurs in cases where the national transporter entered Costa Rican territory empty, according to the official statement.
The agreement also applies to Costa Rican cargo carriers that enter the Republic of Panama empty.It should be noted that the National Customs Authority of Panama is working jointly with other entities related to the issue, to seek more strategies with which to satisfy the aspirations of these organizations.
This measure simplifies procedures, saves time and costs. and the commitments made by the National Government with the transport sector are fulfilled, contributing greatly to the facilitation of trade.
It is important to note that the customs authority will continue to apply control measures with the inspection and registration of the means of transport, requesting and examining the supporting documents, in addition to subjecting the means to permanent surveillance when circumstances warrant it.
This topic is worked on as a team and in accordance with the provisions of the regulations governing International Land Transit., in accordance with Article 402 of the Regulations of the Central American Uniform Customs Code, which approves the incorporation of the Republic of Panama into the Central American Economic Integration Subsystem.
