Panama concludes workshop on border security

International experts on trade security and the fight against terrorism gave a workshop to customs officials on Integrated Border Security Management under the Authorized Economic Operator Program.

The activity, which lasted three days, aimed to analyze the risks to the supply chain, risk matrix and the exchange of information in the public and private sectors.  
 
In that way, Marcelo Martínez of the Organization of American States (OAS)), and moderator of the activity, spoke about the importance of knowing who the client is for greater transparency in international trade.  
 
Meanwhile, General Director of Customs Tayra Barsallo, was pleased that Panama was one of the five countries that are part of the cargo security program. "It is a source of pride for the work we are doing," she said.  

The exhibitor of Spain, Claudia Abbastante, He spoke about the risk analysis For the supply chain, “its importance is to achieve the objectives that have been imposed by the SAFE regulatory framework, as part of the Authorized Economic Operator program to guarantee the supply chain, and to promote lawful activities.”

Regarding the risk matrix, he commented that this is a tool to know what the risks are in order to evaluate them and thus have a priority that tells us what affects a company the most, to mitigate them because “eliminating them is impossible”, which is why he recommends that there must be active and not reactive policies to adopt measures that are sufficient and necessary so that these risks are the least harmful.

It was Elton Carlos Busarello, an analyst at the Federal Reiceta of Brazil, talk about the Exchange of Information between countries and Ricardo Rossy, of the United States, gave an explanation about controls in agriculture.

On the third day, the specialists treated the Benefits of the OAS program in the private sector in reducing waiting times, resolving problems in free zones in conjunction with customs.

They were also made practical workshops with representatives from the institutional and corporate spheres on the “seven-point container inspection” led by André Luiz Oliveira of the Federal Revenue Service of Brazil, in which the most vulnerable areas for the hidden funds used in drug trafficking and the new methods used to deal with this illegality were detailed.

The initiative had the cooperation of the United States Embassy in the Republic of Panama.
