More than 700 Argentine products will enter the US with zero tariffs

After 6 years, Argentina returns to the generalized system of preferences for exports to the United States. For the country, the potential benefit under the GSP amounts to approximately US$ 400 million annually.                       

Through the articulated work of the Ministries of Agroindustry, Production, Foreign Affairs as well as the active participation of the provinces and the private sector, more than 700 products from regional economies They will be able to enter the North American market with zero tariffs.

US authorities signed the measure in December 2017 for Argentina to re-enter the GSP, which consists of the granting of tariff preferences by developed countries to certain products exported from developing countries. Going forward, the United States Congress must renew the continuity of the System, as it does annually, with retroactive effect to January 1, 2018.

In 2011, the last year in which Argentina joined the GSP, the products benefited from it registered exports worth US$464 million, 10% of total exports to the United States.
