Argentina: limit of tons for cargo transportation increased

-

Beginning Decree 27 / 2018, new regulations have been established that will improve logistics and make transport more efficient. More cargo capacity can be added per truck.

The new update to the regulations allows the incorporation of trucks with larger trailers. In this case, within the 18.50 meters required by the regulations, more tonnage can be added by adding axles to the trailer, raising the limit from 45 to 55 tons of gross load but maintaining the weight distribution per axle the same as at present. Within the same length, distributing the weight.

This measure will allow the transfer of approximately one 25% more net load per truck, with a direct impact on the improvement of grain transport logistics and greater efficiency. Furthermore, these trucks will be required to have ABS, EBS and RSS brakes, contributing to road safety. In addition, the Maximum height, which today was up to 4,10 meters, is now 4,30 meters, uniform for all of Mercosur.

The measure, which aims to increase the capacity of interjurisdictional cargo transport vehicles and optimize the conditions required for their circulation, results in an improvement in national productivity, costs and greater safety conditions, without affecting the useful life of the road infrastructure.
