The national government declares the visit to Argentina of the M/V Logos Hope, which will dock in the ports of Bahía Blanca, Rosario, Buenos Aires City and Mar del Plata, during this year 2019, to be of national interest.
This is indicated by the Resolution 157 / 2019 of the General Secretariat published this Friday (15.3.2019) in the Official Gazette.
The text provides that the ship will arrive at the port of Bahía Blanca on March 19 and remain there until April 1. It will then continue to Rosario, province of Santa Fe, and will be in the city from May 30 to June 25, and from June 26 to be in the City of Buenos Aires until July 23. Thus, from July 24 to August 19, 2019, the ship will remain in the port of Mar del Plata.
According to the measure, the applicant is a German non-profit organisation that operates ships that sail around the world to bring knowledge, help and hope.
Since 1970, its ships have visited more than 1500 ports in 150 countries, with the goal of providing access to high-quality literature, expressing love in practical ways to those in need, “promoting peace by fostering the diversity of cultures and guiding people to a life of purpose,” the resolution states.
Thus, as a way of promoting reading and education, the M/V Logos Hope, known as “the largest floating bookstore in the world”, has as its main activity the exhibition and sale of quality literature at affordable prices, covering a wide range of more than 5.000 titles.
In this regard, in each port visited, the ship's crew undertakes work with local organizations, offering practical help to the communities through various donations. "The objectives that motivate the ship's visit and the background of the organizing entity merit this statement," clarifies the official text.
For this reason, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship took the corresponding action, ruling favorably on the declaration of national interest in relation to the visit of the M/V Logos Hope ship.
