With an emotional tribute, the Embassy of Uruguay in Argentina remembered “China” Zorrilla on Wednesday (13.3.2019) from the Cervantes Theater.
At the event attended by more than 300 people, Aduana News screened a mini-documentary about the actress's career and with touching anecdotes she was remembered by an important panel of personalities from the culture and life of "China" including, among others, the Minister of Education and Culture of Uruguay, María Julia Muñoz; the Secretary of Culture of Argentina, Pablo Avelluto; and the renowned actresses and friends of "China", Susana Giménez, Soledad Silveyra and Estela Medina.
In addition, on Thursday (14.3.2019), the day “China” would have turned 97, in an intimate ceremony attended by authorities, family members and neighbors, the Uruguayan Ambassador to Argentina, Héctor Lescano Fraschini, unveiled a commemorative plaque on the facade of the building where she lived in Buenos Aires. In addition, the Zorrilla family donated to the Uruguayan Embassy in Argentina the piano of the prestigious actress who exalted the culture and identity of the River Plate region and which will remain on permanent display in the main hall of its new headquarters.

The Uruguayan actress of the Comedia Nacional, Estela Medina, popularly known as "the lady of the theater", recited verses in memory of "China."
"For me, she was the light," said the renowned Argentine actress and friend of "China," Soledad Silveyra.
"China was distinguished, with patrician features and the most generous person I have ever met in my life," confessed Argentine diva Susana Goménez.
José Medina Zorrilla, representing the Zorrilla family, accompanied the panel moderated by the Uruguayan journalist and biographer of "China" Zorrilla, Diego Fischer.
More than 300 people paid their heartfelt tribute to "China" Zorrilla.
On Thursday, March 14, the day China would have turned 97, the Zorrilla family donated to the Uruguayan Embassy in Argentina the piano that “China” had and played regularly in her home in Buenos Aires, which will remain on permanent display in the main hall of her new headquarters, located at Arenales 1392, along with a photograph of the actress.
That same Thursday, in an intimate ceremony attended by authorities, family members and neighbors, the Uruguayan Ambassador to Argentina, Héctor Lescano Fraschini, unveiled a commemorative plaque on the facade of the building where the Uruguayan actress lived in Buenos Aires until her return to Montevideo, located on Uruguay Street in the Recoleta neighborhood.
