On Thursday (15.03.2018) the Minister of Defense, Oscar Aguad, led the ceremony of reading the order of departure of the frigate ARA Libertad, which will begin its 47th training voyage for midshipmen next Saturday.
The ceremony took place in the northern dock of the metropolitan port, where Aguad was accompanied by the Secretary of Logistics Services for Defense and Military Coordination in Emergencies, Graciela Susana Villata, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Navy, Vice Admiral of the Marine Corps, José Luis Villán.
"It is an honour and a joy to bid farewell to the frigate; I am convinced that they will represent us very well, with all the politeness and warmth to which they have accustomed us," said the minister after greeting the midshipmen on commission and touring the Argentine Navy training ship with its commander.
The frigate will begin its 17.03.2018th training voyage for midshipmen on Saturday (47), which is scheduled to end on November 17 in the port of Buenos Aires.
Aboard the ship will be 76 midshipmen on commission, 11 of them women, belonging to promotions 147 of the Naval Command Corps, 82 of the Marine Infantry, and 103 of the Professional Corps, Quartermaster's Ladder.
During the voyage, which will last eight months, the ship will sail approximately 25 nautical miles, equivalent to 46.300 kilometers.
In addition to the midshipmen, the crew will be made up of 26 officers and 192 non-commissioned officers, invited by training institutes of the Argentine Navy, the Institute of Foreign Service of the Nation, the national Armed Forces, the Federal Police, the Naval Prefecture and the National Gendarmerie.
Cadets from foreign navies will also participate, including those from South Africa, Uruguay, Bolivia, Peru, Brazil, Paraguay, Chile, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Suriname, the United States, Canada, China, Germany and Italy.
