The president of the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa), Ricardo Negri, highlighted the need to preserve the national phytosanitary heritage, the importance of added value at origin and the significance of coordinating actions between different organizations, at the close of the 89th Meeting of the Committee for the Sustainable Development of the Mountainous Regions of Argentina held at the headquarters of the Organization.

During the meeting, José Moreyra from the General Border Coordination of Senasa explained the actions to control animal and plant products from public passenger transport, private transport and local transit at mountain border crossings and the delegation of these functions to the National Gendarmerie, within the framework of the cooperation agreement between both entities.

He also addressed the issue of the treatment of waste from organic products confiscated from abroad and the protocol to facilitate the feasibility of bartering products of animal and plant origin between indigenous peoples of the highlands in the north of the country.
